You never know how powerful the motherhood is!

A while ago, the video which recorded the whole event happening in a market of Hubei province shocked everyone, a mother who was involved in the hand-elevator pushed her boy aside in the last minute, but lost her life in the end.

动词：表示守护，保护

1.protect：保护；警卫；庇护

Guard：警戒；防护

例：

The sunglasses protect our eyes from highlight. 太阳镜挡住强光来保护我们的眼睛。

The security was ordered to guard the north entrance. 这个保安被要求去守卫北边的出口。

Protect 比较常用，是用某种手段以免受危险或伤害；guard也是普通用词，指保持警惕以防危险等；

2.shield：遮蔽；包庇；避开；保卫；防御

Shelter：保护；使掩蔽；shelter：保护某人不受打击；shelter oneself：为自己辩解，给自己找借口。

例：

A wolf shelter from the heavy snow in a wooden shed. 一匹狼在小木棚里躲避暴雪。

The sites shield themselves from search engines, so they do not pop up in response to online searches for the brands they offer.这些网站避开了搜索引擎，所以若在线搜索他们所卖的品牌时，他们的网站是不会出现的。

Shield语气比protect强，但是侧重于防止迫在眉睫的攻击和伤害；shelter常指寻找安全的地方躲避风雨或危险。

3.defend：捍卫；保卫；防守

Defend against：防卫；保卫；抵抗

例：

Defending the enemies is the soldiers’ first duty. 御敌卫国是军人的天职。

Robinson has to defend his house against the animals’ attack. 鲁滨逊必须保护自己的房子免受动物的袭击。

普通用词，指用武力或其他措施保护人或财物免受损害。也可指坚持某种行动、决定、意见

4.safeguard：保护；护卫

例：

Safeguard your passwords and change them frequently. 经常保护和更换你的密码。

You must take measures to safeguard our freedom.你必须采取点措施来保障我们的自由。

Safeguard语气很强，是指采取积极措施以防一切攻击或危险。

5.harbour：藏匿，庇护

例：

Anyone who harbours the criminal will be punished. 不管是谁藏匿罪犯都会受到惩罚。

Harbor 贬义词，指藏匿或非法保护、窝藏
