上一讲 主要讲了“入眠”在英语中怎么表达。紧接上一讲，我们来看看英语中还有哪些跟“睡眠”相关的表达。

1. 表示“睡着”，常用：be asleep

例：

''Are you asleep?''  ''No, I'm awake.''（-你睡着了吗？ -没，醒着呢。）

The baby's asleep - don't wake her.（孩子睡着了，别吵醒她。）

He tries to clean up the house while the kids are asleep.（他想趁着孩子们在睡，把房子好好打扫一下。）

He was still asleep at noon.（到了中午，他还在睡。）

2. 表示“熟睡”，常用：

① fast/sound asleep: sleep deeply

例：

He was fast asleep by the time I got home.（我到家时，他已经睡得很熟了。）

It was late at night and everyone was fast asleep.（夜已深，大家都已熟睡。）

One moment she was sound asleep, the next she was wide awake!（她本来还在熟睡，一下就完全醒了！）

② out for the count:

例：

Two minutes after getting into bed, I was out for the count.（我睡下后两分钟，就睡得很熟了。）

③ sleep like a baby/log:

备注：''log''的原意是“木头”。

例：

After a long day of skiing, I slept like a baby last night.（滑了一整天雪，我昨晚睡得很好。）

I was exhausted and slept like a log.（我累坏了，是以睡死过去。）

④ sleep through (something): to sleep without being awakened by (something, such as a loud noise) 熟睡，没被（噪声等）吵醒

例：

She slept right through the thunderstorm.（她没被暴风雨吵醒。）

How did you manage to sleep through the thunderstorm?（雷电交加你怎么能睡着？）

I can't believe I slept through my alarm!（竟然闹钟都没吵醒我，难以置信啊！）

At least the baby is sleeping through the night.（至少孩子一夜睡了个整觉。）（备注：sleep through the night= to sleep continuously during the whole night）

⑤ sleep tight: used especially to children before they go to bed, to say that you hope they sleep well 睡个好觉！

备注：这句话一般用在口语中。

例：

Good night, kids. Sleep tight. （晚安，孩子们，睡个好觉！）

3. 表示“醒来，但还没完全清醒”，常用：half asleep

例：

Still half asleep, Jenny began to make the kids' breakfast.（珍妮还没完全睡醒，就开始给孩子们做早饭。）

We were still half asleep when we went to school the next morning.（第二天上学的时候，我们还迷迷糊糊的。）

4. 表示“在某地方过夜”，一般指“家以外的地方”

① kip:

备注：这个词是英式英语中较口语化的说法。

例：

Can I kip here tonight?（我今晚能住这儿吗？）

We kipped down at a hotel.（我们住在酒店里。）

② stay over:

例：

If you want, you can stay over with us tonight.（如果你愿意，今晚可以睡我们家。）

③ stay the night:

例：

After the party she was too drunk to drive so she stayed the night.（她喝高了没法开车，派对结束后便留下来过夜。）

They stayed the night at her brother's.（他们在她哥哥家过夜。）

④ sleep over:

例：

My mom said that you could sleep over on Saturday.（我妈说，你周六晚可以住我们家。）
