1. Marshall: OK, I'm just saying that it's my wedding too and I should have a say in it.

1 be saying:

例:

I'm not saying it's a bad idea, just that we need to think about it.

I'm just saying it would be easier if we made a copy.

Teachers have to try to understand their students more, you know what I'm saying ?(老师得更努力地去了解学生,你听懂我的意思了吗?)

All I'm saying is that it would be better to do this first.

2 have/get a say in something: have the right to take part in deciding something

Citizens should have a say in how their tax money is spent.

We won't make a decision until all members have said their say.

Lily: What? Stuart doesn't get a say ?

Marshall: Ha! So you admit it, the groom should have an equal say .

2. Ted: Whoa, did you see how fired up she was?

fire up: to fill someone with energy or enthusiasm

例:

The coach fired up the players with a pep talk.

We were fired up for the concert.

备注: ''fire up'' 经常出现的形式是 ''be/get fired up''

3. Ted: And come Saturday , a little music, a little dancing, a lot of champagne. Who knows?

come Saturday/spring/July: used to talk about a particular time in the future

例:

Come spring, we'll have plenty of color in the garden.

4. Ted: Come on, Claudia, we go way back .

go back

剧中的意思是 ''to have known each other for a particular amount of time''

例:

We go back 30 years.

He and I go back a long way . = He and I go way back .

5. Barney: Because deep down , you didn't want to show up at this thing with a date.

deep down: adv. if you feel or believe something deep down or deep down inside, you feel or believe it completely even if you do not say it or show it to other people 在内心深处,打心眼里,真心

例:

He knew deep down inside that she was right.

I believed deep down that we were going to win.

He might look like a mean old man, but deep down inside he is a very kind person.

6. Marshall: Ted, no. Let it go . She's about to get married. She's got enough to worry about.

let go:

大家一定对《冰雪奇缘》的主题歌 Let It Go 印象深刻,对, ''let it go'' 就是“放手”的意思。

例:

I know she disappointed you, but you need to let the past go and move on with your life.

She felt she had been treated wrongly, and she wasn't willing to let it go.
