''party''可以跟哪些动词搭配使用?

主要有以下四大块:

 

一、开派对

1. have a party/get-together/reception etc.:

例:

We used to have a big Christmas party every year.(我们以前每年都要办大型圣诞派对。)

The couple had their wedding reception at the Museum of Modern Art.(这对夫妻在现代艺术博物馆举办婚宴。)

Mark, my boss, had a surprise party to welcome me home.(我老板马克为我办了个欢迎回归的惊喜派对。)

 

2.throw a party: to have a party at your home

例:

He threw a huge party to celebrate making his first million dollars.(他办了个大型派对来庆祝赚的第一个100万。)

throw a party for

The staff and patients threw a farewell party for Dr. Rogers.(医院同事和病人一起为罗杰医生举办了欢送派对。)

The Whites threw an impromptu cocktail party for him in the backyard.(怀特一家人在后院即兴为他办了个鸡尾酒会。)

 

3. hold a party/dinner/reception/function etc.: to have a formal or official party

备注:''hold''是举办较正式的派对。

例:

The anniversary dinner was held Wednesday night at the Washington Hilton.(周三晚上在华盛顿希尔顿酒店举行周年晚宴。)

They are holding a fund-raising reception on Friday in the City Hall.(周五在市政厅举行筹款招待会。)

 

4. give a party/dinner party/lunch party etc.: to be the person who organizes a party

例:

I'm giving a dinner party on Thursday night. Would you like to come?(我周四晚上家里请客,你想来吗?)

On Maggie's last night in the house, Joe gave a little farewell party.(麦吉离家前一晚,乔办了个小小的欢送派对。)

give a party for somebody

The prospect of giving a dinner party for my boyfriend's snobbish parents filled me with gloom.(想到要在家招待我男朋友的势利父母,我太郁闷了。)

 

5. host a party/dinner party/reception etc.: to be the person who organizes a formal party and officially welcomes the guests

备注:''host''是举办较正式的派对。

例:

She will be hosting a cocktail reception at 6pm in the hotel.(晚上六点她会在这家酒店办鸡尾酒会。)

Last year, the city hosted a three-day gay pride festival.(去年,这城市举办了为期3天的同志大游行。)

 

6.invite somebody to a party:

例:

I’m invited to Lily's party next weekend.(莉莉请我下周去参加她的派对。)

 

二、参加派对

1. go to/come to a party, attend a party:

备注:''attend a party''是比较正式的说法。

例:

Are you going to Tom's party? (你会去汤姆的派对吗?)

About 500 people will attend a party in her honor.(这个为她举办的派对,大约有500人会来。)

2. gatecrash a party: 不请自来、混入派对

例:

Some older boys tried to gatecrash the party.(一些年龄稍长的男孩想混入这个派对。)

 

三、派对进行时

1. a party is in full swing (= people at a party are having a good time talking, dancing etc. )

例:

At 3am, the party was still in full swing.(凌晨3点,派对上仍然热火朝天。)

2. there is a party going on:

例:

Somewhere near the hotel there was a party going on.(酒店附近有个地方正在开派对。)

 

四、派对结束

a party breaks up (= it ends and people go home )

例:

The party broke up a little after midnight.(半夜12点稍迟一些,派对结束了。)
