1.   Marshall: List of lifelong dreams, you're now half as long.    （人生梦想单，你现在已经完成了一半。）

解析：

lifelong: adj. continuing or lasting through a person's life 毕生的

备注：这个词只能放在名词前面，不能单独作表语。

例：

His lifelong dream had been to write a novel. （他毕生的心愿就是写一部小说。）

a lifelong friendship （终生的友谊）

2. Kevin: You know, if you felt this way you could have just been upfront .  （你知道，如果你真的这么想，其实你可以直接对我说。）

解析：

upfront: adj. honest and direct 老实、直接

例：

I've been very upfront with you. （我对你向来很坦诚。）

''upfront'' 分开写作 ''up front'' 时，也有类似的意思，但是词性却是副词，意思是 ''in a honest and direct way'' 。

例：

They told me up front that my chances of being selected weren't good. （他们直接告诉我，我被选上的机会不是很大。）

3. 保持……状态

Ted: I wasn't fighting for the apartment. I was fighting for...I don't know...for everything to stay the way it is . But I'm not gonna get that, so, seriously, take the place, it's yours.

解析：

the way: 事物存在的状态

例：

People are dying of hunger, and it doesn't have to be that way . （有人饿死，其实事情根本不至于走到如斯地步的。）

Business is good, and we are doing everything we can to keep it that way. （生意很好，我们竭尽全力让它保持下去。）

There's nothing we can do to help them. That's just the way things are . （我们无能为力帮不了他们，只能这样了。）

4.  Marshall: Well, just to be fair , it didn't go all the way through.  （哎，公平地说，其实没有刺穿。）

Ted 和 Marshall 比剑，结果最终误伤了 Lily 。 Lily 说：你用剑刺穿了我。 Marshall 回应：公平点说，并没有“刺穿”。

解析：

to be fair: not to be harsh or critical

例：

''What a bad movie!''  ''Be fair! Parts of it are actually pretty funny.''

I can't say I liked the movie, but, to be fair, parts of it are pretty funny. （我不能说喜欢这部电影，但老实说，有些地方很有意思。）

5. Lily: We're not getting married for , like a year.

解析：

for: 表示“一段时间以内”

例：

She won't get here for hours. （她几个小时内到不了这儿。）

She won't be here for long. （她不会在这儿呆很久。）

We're staying there for the summer. （我们在那儿消夏。）

6. 祝酒词：一般以 ''A toast.'' 开头，以 ''To something.'' 结尾。

Lily: OK, a toast . Life is full of changes. One day you have an apartment, the next day it's a house of dumplings. But the important stuff doesn't change. To the important stuff.

Lily 的这段祝酒词和本集最开始 Future Ted 说的 ''I never wanted any of it to change. But that's not how life works.'' 首尾呼应。

——是的，生活总不会一成不变，但重要的事物，像真挚的感情等等，如果你不想让它变，它就不会变。
