1. cause/create problems: to cause a problem, even if you do not intend to

例：

After a while, John started causing problems in class. （过了一会儿，约翰就开始在班上捣乱。）

They have two good backs who can cause problems for our team's defense. （他们队有两个很厉害的后卫，会给我们后防制造麻烦。）

When he drinks too much, he causes problems. （他一喝多就闹事。）

2. cause/make/spell trouble: to deliberately cause problems, especially by starting arguments or fights
