“脏话”这个词在英语中怎么说

任何语言里都有很多脏字、骂人的话,特地介绍这些骂人的话其实很没有必要,因为大家看看流行的美剧或者美国电影就能听到很多。本篇主要介绍一下“脏话”这个词本身在英语里有哪些表达。

 

1. bad/foul language: language that most people think is offensive

备注:''bad/foul language''是很正式的说法。

Even very young children are using foul language at school. (现在就连很小的孩子在学校也会讲粗话。)

The computer chip allows parents to block programs containing violence, sex, or bad language. (这个电脑芯片能帮助家长屏蔽电脑上包含色情、暴力、污言秽语的程序。)

She claimed she had been subjected to abuse and foul language. (她声称自己一直遭受虐待和辱骂。)

 

2. strong language: language that most people think is offensive - used especially to warn people that there may be offensive words used in a film or television program 大多数人感到冒犯的话语,尤其指电视或电影里出现的

例:

The following program contains strong language, and some viewers may find it offensive. (接下来这个节目中含有不雅用语,对部分观众可能有所冒犯。)

The film has lots of violence, scenes of drug-taking, and strong language. (这部电影里有很多暴力、吸毒、说脏话的镜头。)

The film is not suitable for children under 12 as it contains strong language. (这部电影内含不雅用语,不适合12岁以下儿童观看。)

 

3. colorful language: language that uses a lot of swear words - use this in humorous contexts (幽默、开玩笑时用)

例:

The colorful language of some of the characters may make it unsuitable for younger viewers. (剧中有些人物口吐脏字,因此该剧不适合小孩观看。)

He has been known to use some colorful language when he starts talking about politics. (他一讲到政治,就会用些脏字眼。)

 

4. four-letter word: a word that most people think is extremely offensive, especially one that is connected with sex or the sexual organs 涉及性或性器官的、大部分人认为是极其冒犯的字词

例:

Rap songs are full of four-letter words. (饶舌歌曲里很多脏字。)

It's a family show, with no four-letter words. (这是部家庭剧,剧中不讲污言秽语。)

a book that contains a lot of four-letter words (满书都是脏字)

 

5. swearword: a rude and offensive word that people use especially when they are angry 人们在生气时的咒骂

例:

a movie filled with violent images and rough swearwords (一部充满暴力和污言秽语的影片)

He wasn't the type of man to use swearwords. (他不是那种会讲粗话的人。)

 

6. obscenity: n. sexually offensive language or behavior, especially in a book, play, film etc.  尤指在书刊、戏剧和电影中出现的淫秽字眼或行为

例:

laws against obscenity (反淫秽法)

drunken youths screaming obscenities (喝醉了的年轻人大声说着下流话)

Someone had written obscenities all over the classroom wall. (有人在教室墙上写满了下流话。)

Tom burst into the apartment, drunk and shouting obscenities. (汤姆醉醺醺地冲进公寓,嘴里不干不净的。)

补充''obscenity''的形容词''obscene'',也可以表示这个意思。

例:

obscene lyrics/language (粗俗的歌词、粗话)

He made an obscene gesture at the driver who cut him off. (他对着超车的那个司机比了个很不雅的手势。)

The book is filled with obscene pictures. (这本里到处都是不雅图片。)

 

7. unprintable: remarks, words etc. that are unprintable or are too offensive to appear in a newspaper, magazine, or book 新闻、杂志或书籍中不宜发表的粗俗或猥亵字眼

例:

unprintable words (粗俗的字眼)

I can't tell you what he said because it's unprintable. (我不能将他说的话转述给你听,因为他的话太粗俗了。)

Most of what she said in the interview was unprintable. (她在采访中说的大部分话都很粗俗。)

Tom admits he's been called many things, some of them unprintable. (汤姆说,他有很多外号,有些外号还很粗俗。)
