放松点!(第二部分)

紧接 上一讲 ,我们继续来看看“放松点”的英语还能怎么说吧!

 

1. unwind : to gradually relax after you have been working hard or worrying a lot

例:

I wanted to unwind after a hard day. (辛苦工作了一天,我想放松放松。)

After a couple of drinks, Tom began to unwind. (喝了几杯酒,汤姆逐渐放松了。)

Set in spectacular countryside, the hotel is the perfect place to unwind. (这家酒店坐落在风景优美的乡间,是个绝佳的休闲胜地。)

The world motocross champion likes nothing better than unwinding in front of the TV. (这个世界摩托车越野赛冠军最喜欢看着电视放松自己。)

 

2. chill out/chill : to become more relaxed, less tense, less anxious, or less angry

备注: ''chill out'' 一般用在口语中。

例:

He thinks his parents are way too uptight and says they should just chill. (他觉得他爸妈太严肃了,他说他们得放松点别绷得那么紧。)

Chill out, man! (伙计,嗨起来!)

''chill out'' 还可以指 ''to spend time in a relaxed manner''

例:

I decide to stay home and chill. (我决定在家里好好放松放松。)

She has been chilling out with her girlfriends. (她和姐们玩得很嗨。)

The main reason I'm going to Jamaica is so I can lie on the beach and chill out without being distracted. (去牙买加我就能躺在海边沙滩上,无人打扰,好好放松一下,这是我想去那儿的主要原因。)

 

3. let your hair down : to relax completely and enjoy yourself, especially in social situations

备注: ''let your hair down'' 是较口语化的用法。

例:

Chat rooms on the internet are places where we can let our hair down and say what we think. (网上聊天室可以让我们完全放松自己,随心所欲地聊天。)

We work hard all week, so when Friday comes we like to let our hair down a little and have some fun. (我们平时工作很忙,所以周五的时候,我们喜欢放松放松,找点乐子。)

The party gave us all a chance to really let our hair down. (这个派对让我们大家真正地放松下来。)

 

4. lighten up : to become more relaxed and informal and to stop being serious, worried etc.

例:

He really needs to lighten up and relax a little. (他真的要放松放松了。)

Lighten up a bit and enjoy yourself! (放松点,好好玩!)

I hope you're the father. Just a little joke to lighten up the mood. (希望你就是我孩子的爸。——呵呵,说个笑话来活跃一下气氛而已。)

 

5. let yourself go : to allow yourself to completely relax in a social situation, and not worry about what is polite, or about what other people may think

例:

He really lets himself go when he's out partying with his friends. (他和朋友们去派对上玩时,才是真正放松了。)

Dick took me to the party and, for once, I let myself go completely. (迪克带我去派对,就那次,我是完全放松的。)

She has a hard time relaxing and letting herself go. (她很难放松下来。)

He's quite scholarly, but he can be really funny when he lets himself go. (他像个学究,但他不绷得那么紧完全放松的时候相当有趣。)

For goodness sake, Peter, why don't you just let yourself go for once? (天呐,皮特,你怎么就不能尽情玩一次呢?)
