1. Barney: If you complete that call, I will set your coat on fire.

Ted: You're bluffing .

解析:

bluff: to pretend that you will do something or that you know or have something in order to trick someone into doing what you want

Don't listen to his threats—he's just bluffing.

She says someone else has made her a higher offer, but I think she's bluffing.

He's a terrible card play you can always tell when he's bluffing.

I managed to bluff my way into the show without a ticket.

I bluffed my way through the interview.

2. Barney: Sleep it off , bro.

sleep (something) off/ sleep off (something): to sleep until the effects of alcohol, medication, etc. are no longer felt

She was sleeping off the anesthesia.

He had too much to drink. I'm letting him sleep it off.

3. Ted: I threw up? My streak is over . Vomit-free since '05 doesn't sound good.

streak: n. a period of repeated success or failure

a winning/losing streak

The team has recently been on a hot streak .

And the streak continues . Vomit-free since '93.

4. Ted: Carl, did you know the word ''karaoke'' is Japanese for empty orchestra? Isn't that hauntingly beautiful? Are you a vampire?

Carl: All right. I am cutting you off . Go home and get some sleep, Ted.

to stop someone from talking

I was in the middle of telling a story she cut me off to ask about dinner.

He spoke for 12 minutes until his teacher cut him off.

to refuse to allow someone to drink more alcohol

He's had too much to drink. We'd better cut him off.

5. Carl: This way, if you pass out in the gutter... Someone will call me and I will come get you.

pass out: to fall asleep or become unconscious

They both passed out in front of the TV.

He drank until he passed out.

I felt like I was going to pass out from exhaustion.
