令人感到失望，英语还能怎么表达？

1. be a letdown : if something is a letdown , you do not enjoy it as much as you expected

备注： ''be a letdown'' 常用在口语中。

例：

The end of the book was a real letdown. （书的结尾真叫人失望。）

The party was a real letdown. （那派对真叫人失望。）

After months of planning and anticipation, the Florida trip was kind of a letdown. （这趟佛罗里达之行我们筹划并期待了好几个月，结果有点叫人失望。）

2. be an anticlimax/be anticlimactic : something that is an anticlimax or that is anticlimactic is much less exciting or dramatic than it was expected to be 某事物虎头蛇尾、令人扫兴

例：

Going back to work after a month traveling in China is bound to be an anticlimax. （去中国玩了一个月回来，再回到工作中当然会有点落差。）

The last chapter of the book was an anticlimax. （书的最后一章虎头蛇尾，让人失望。）

The movie ended in anticlimax. （电影的结尾叫人失望。）

Compared to the excitement of the earlier parts of the film, the ending was a little anticlimactic. （这部电影开始部分挺激动人心的，结尾有点叫人失望。）

3. be a non-event : an event or occasion that is a non-event is disappointing because nothing interesting or exciting happened 事件平淡无奇，让人感到无趣

例：

Her party was a total non-event. Only five people turned up. （她办的派对真让人失望，只来了五个人。）

In the end, the match turned to be a non-event. （最后，比赛变得很无聊。）

4. be a bummer : if you say that a situation or event is a bummer, you mean it is very disappointing

备注： ''be a bummer'' 常用在口语中。

例：

"I heard Tom's going to quit the team." "That's a bummer."  （ - 我听说汤姆要退队了。 - 哎，这真叫人不开心！）

You can't go? What a bummer! （你不能去？真叫人失望！）

That was a real bummer of a movie. （这部电影真叫人失望。）

"The party was last Saturday." "Oh, bummer! I always miss those things." （ - 派对是上周六开的。 - 哎哟不高兴，我老是错过！）

5. bum out : to cause someone feel disappointed

例：

The news really bummed me out. （这消息真叫我失望。）

6. ...is not all it's cracked up to be : use this to say that something is not as good as people say it is 某事物不如大家说的那么好

例：

This leisure center isn't all it's cracked up to be. They don't even have a sauna. （这个休闲中心没有传说中的那么好，连桑拿都没有。）

Being a fashion model isn't all it's cracked up to be. It is extremely hard work. （做模特没有想象得那么好，工作极为辛苦。）

The new restaurant is not all it's cracked up to be. When we went, the service was awful and our food was cold. （这家新开的餐厅没有传说中的那么好。我们去吃的时候，服务很差，上的菜也是凉的。）

7. dash (somebody's) hopes : to disappoint someone very badly by doing or telling them something that is the opposite of what they hoped for or what they needed to happen 让某人的期望落空 / 打破某人的幻想

例：

Renewed fighting has dashed all hopes of an early settlement. （战火重燃，早先定下的协议带来的期望全都破灭了。）

The family's hopes that their daughter would be found alive were cruelly dashed this morning. （这一家对女儿仍然还活着的希望今天早上被残忍地打破了。）

Hopkins' hopes were dashed when his appeal was denied. （霍普金斯的上诉被驳回后便绝望了。）
