1. on the spot : if you do something on the spot, you do it immediately, without taking time to think about the situation, without waiting for official permission etc. （想都不想 / 不等获得上级许可就做某事）

例：

I was so angry I almost resigned on the spot. （我气得当下就辞职了。）

The police can fine motorists on the spot for driving offenses. （警察可以当场给违规的司机开罚单。）

Look, I can't give you a decision on the spot. I'll have to talk to my boss first. （听着，我无法马上给你一个决定，我得先跟我老板商量一下。）

I offered him the job when he came for an interview, and he accepted the offer on the spot. （他面试时，我录用了他，他当场答应来我们这儿上班。）

When the boss saw him stealing, he was fired on the spot. （老板看到他偷东西，当场就把他开除了。）

2. then and there : if you do something or decide something then and there, you do it immediately and without stopping to think or delaying your decision until a later time

备注：英式英语中常作 ''there and then'' 。这个词组可以理解为“那时那刻就做了某事”，即“马上”。

例：

I made up my mind then and there. （我马上做了决定。）

I decided right then and there that I would accept the offer. （我马上决定去那儿上班 / 上学。）

When Kate knew John was seeing someone else, she should have left him then and there. （当凯特知道约翰还跟其他人约会的时候，她就应该马上离开他。）

3. off the top of your head : if you answer a question or provide information off the top of your head, you do it immediately, using information you already know, and without thinking about it or trying to find out more about it （不假思索就能说 / 做）

备注： "off the top of your head" 是较口语化的用法。

例：

"How old is Chris?" "I don't know off the top of my head." （ - 克里斯多大了？   - 我一下说不出。）

There are some good restaurants around here, but I can't tell you their names off the top of my head. （这附近有很多好吃的餐馆，但是餐馆的名字我一下说不出。）

Off the top of my head, I can think of three people who might be interested. （我一下能想到 3 个可能对此感兴趣的人。）

Just off the top of my head, I'd say there were about 50. （随口一说，大约有 50 个。）

4. right off the bat : if you do or say something right off the bat, you do it or say it immediately, without taking time to think about it （同上）

备注： ''right off the bat'' 是美式英语较口语化的用法。

例：

I couldn't think of a reply right off the bat. （我没法立即想到该怎么应对。）

I could tell it was fake right off the bat. （我马上就知道它是假货。）

He said yes right off the bat. （他马上就答应了。）

We let them know right off the bat that we weren't going with them. （我们第一时间就知会了他们，但我们不会跟他们一起去。）

5. at short notice : if something happens at short notice, it happens suddenly without you having time to prepare for it （还来不及准备，事情就突然发生了）

备注：或者作 ''on short notice'' 或 ''at/on a moment's/minute's notice'' 。

例：

They're prepared to help us at short notice. （我们一求助，他们马上就准备好来帮我们了。）

They can be ready to go at short notice. （他们马上可以走了。）

She had to leave on a business trip at short notice. （她得马上出趟差。）

6. in no time : very quickly or soon （很快）

例：

We'll be there in no time. （我们马上就到。）

Don't worry. It'll be all over in no time. （别担心，很快就没事了。）
