中国人形容跟“性”有关的不雅内容时，都会用“黄色”来形容，如“黄色笑话”、“黄书”等等。但英文中，论到用颜色来形容“性”，可不是用“黄色”，那用什么呢？用蓝色''blue''！

例：

I found the kids watching a blue movie on the video last night. （昨晚我发现孩子们在影碟机上看黄片。）

Her jokes are too blue for most audiences. （对大部分观众来说，她讲的笑话太黄了。）

除了''blue''，还能用什么词来形容“黄色”呢？

1. obscene: obscene words or pictures are about sex and are very offensive

例：

obscene photographs（淫秽照片）

He made an obscene gesture. （他比划了个不雅的手势。）

Lady Chatterley's Lover was banned as an obscene book. （《查太莱夫人的情人》是被禁的黄色书刊。）

He was charged with smuggling obscene materials into the UK. （他被控向英国输入淫秽制品。）

He was accused of making obscene phone calls. (= calls from an unknown person saying obscene things )（他被控电话性骚扰。）

2. dirty: dirty books, jokes, films etc. are about sex - use this especially to show that you think these are unpleasant

备注：''dirty''是较口语化的用法。

例：

They just sit around telling dirty jokes—it's very boring. （他们就这么围坐在一起讲黄色笑话，真无聊。）

He used to keep a collection of dirty books hidden under his bed. （他曾经在床底下藏了一堆黄书。）

Say something dirty. （说点有挑逗性的话。）

He has a dirty mind. （他满脑子想的都是那些龌蹉的事。）

She looked at me as if I had said a dirty word. （她那样看着我，好像我讲了什么脏字一样。）

3. indecent: clothes that are indecent are not covering enough of your body; actions or movements that are indecent are sexual, but in a way many people think is not pleasant or acceptable

例：

indecent photos（艳照）

You can't wear that dress to the dinner party - it's positively indecent! （你别穿这条裙子去晚宴，太暴露了！）

Models were forced into all sorts of indecent poses for the camera. （模特们拍照时被迫摆出各种挑逗人的姿势。）

4. lewd: lewd remarks or behavior show that the person saying them or doing something is thinking about sex, and they are usually offensive

例：

Although his jokes were a little lewd, he always made us laugh. （他讲的笑话虽然有点黄，但每次都能逗得我们笑。）

He made lewd remarks to the woman at the bar. （他对酒吧里有位女士出言轻佻。）

5. filthy: showing or describing sexual acts in a very offensive way

例：

filthy movie/joke（黄色电影、黄色笑话）

The magazine printed filthy pictures that shocked everyone. （这本杂志上登的色情图把大家都惊呆了。）

He has a filthy mouth. （他经常讲龌蹉的话。）

6. off-color: jokes, stories, remarks etc. that are off-color talk about sex in a way that is not acceptable in a particular situation

例：

He occasionally tells an off-color joke, but his image is practically that of a saint. （他偶尔讲一两个黄色笑话，但他实际上人很好。）

7. smut: books, stories, films etc. that are about sex - use this when you strongly disapprove of this

例：

There's too much violence and smut on TV these days. （最近电视上色情暴力的镜头太多。）
