看看“离某地很近”、“附近”的英文怎么说。

1. near : only a short distance from a person, place, or thing

例：

We camped in a forest near a large lake. （我们在森林里的大湖边搭帐篷。）

The place where we were going was much nearer than I thought. （我们要去的地方比我想象得近多了。）

2. close : very near to something or someone, or almost touching them

例：

close to

Don't drive so close to the edge of the road. （车别开得太靠路边。）

close behind/beside

Suddenly we heard footsteps close behind us. （突然间我们听到后面不远处有脚步声传来。）

close together

The houses were built very close together, and the gardens were rather small. （这些房子的间距很小，花园也很小。）

Nancy came over and sat close beside me on the bed. （南希走过来，跟我紧靠着坐在床上。）

close by (=near where you are)

Is there a gas station close by? （附近有没有加油站？）

3. a short distance : used to say that something is quite near something or someone

例：

a short distance away

I'd parked my car a short distance away, just around the corner. （我把车停在附近，就在街角那儿。）

a short distance from

Harvard University is only a short distance from the center of Boston. （哈佛大学离波士顿市中心很近。）

a short distance to the south/north etc.

The source of the river is a short distance to the south of here. （这条河的源头在这儿往南不远处。）

4. not far : not a very long distance away - use this about somewhere that is near enough to be easy to get to

例：

"How far is the station?" "Oh, not far - about ten minutes by car." （ - 车站有多远？ - 不远，大约 10 分钟车程。）

not far from

Asti is not far from the French border. （阿斯蒂离法国边境线不远。）（备注： Asti 是意大利北部小镇。）

not far away

Our hotel was in the center of town but the beach wasn't far away. （我们住的酒店在市中心，但是海边离酒店并不远。）

5. nearby : near the place where you are or the place you are talking about

例：

Dave, who was sitting nearby, laughed when he heard this. （戴夫坐在附近，他听到这个大笑。）

The house is really nice, and a lot of my friends live nearby. （这个房子很漂亮，并且我有很多朋友住在附近。）

It was very convenient having the garage nearby. （附近有个车库很方便。）

6. neighboring : a neighboring country, town, area etc is near the place where you are or the place you are talking about

例：

The fair attracted thousands of people from neighboring areas. （无数周边地区的人都赶到这里参加狂欢。）

Soldiers and firemen from 13 neighboring towns wrestled with the blaze for hours. （来自周边 13 个镇的士兵和消防员奋力灭火长达数小时。）

7. in the vicinity : in the area around and near a particular place

备注： "in the vicinity" 常用于正式的场合。

例：

The stolen car was found in the vicinity of the station. （那部被盗车辆最终在车站附近找到。）

There used to be a mill in the vicinity. （附近原来有个磨坊。）

A white van was seen in the vicinity at about the time when the murder took place. （凶案发生时，有一辆白色货车停在附近。）

In the past ten years there have been more cases of cancer in the vicinity of nuclear installations. （过去十年间，核电站附近新增了很多癌症病例。）
