1. get on: to go onto a bus, train etc. at the beginning of a journey 上车(火车、汽车等)

备注:反义词''get off''(下车)。

例:

The train stopped in the middle of the night in Nogales. No one got on or off. (火车半夜驶进诺加莱斯站,没人上下车。)

We got on the train at Lime Street Station. (我们在莱姆街站上了车。)

Get on a number 73 bus at the corner. That will take you to Islington High Street. (在拐角车站坐73路公车,直达伊斯灵顿大街。)

She's old and needs help getting on and off the bus. (她老了,上下车需要人扶。)

 

2. get in/into: to go into a small vehicle, for example a car or boat 上车、上船

例:

"Can you give me a lift into town?"  "Sure. Get in."-载我去市区好吗? -没问题,上车吧。)

Be careful getting into the boat. (上船时小心点。)

I got in a taxi and went to the hospital immediately. (我立即上了的士赶去医院。)

 

3. catch: to get on a particular bus, train, or plane in order to go somewhere 赶车、赶飞机等等

例:

Stephen caught the 6.15 to Birmingham. (史蒂文搭6.15号火车去伯明翰。)

If we're quick, we should still be able to catch our train. (我们快点的话,还能赶得上火车。)

Jonathan looked at his watch. "I've got a plane to catch," he said. (乔纳森看看表,说“我要赶飞机。”)

 

4. hop on/in/into: to get on a bus, train, plane etc., or get into a car, taxi etc., especially after suddenly deciding to (临时决定)上车、上飞机

备注:''hop on/in/into''常用于非正式的场合。

例:

Karl hopped on the first plane back to Germany. (卡尔临时决定搭第一班机飞回德国。)

"Hop in," shouted Lucy, throwing open the door of her van. (露西用力推开车门,叫道:“上车!”)

She hopped into a cab and told the driver to go to King's Cross. (她上了的士,说要去国王十字车站。)

"Why not hop in the car and come with us?" she asked with a sly smile. (她顽皮地笑着说:“何不上车跟我们一起去!”)

 

5. board: to get on a ship, plane, or train 登船,登机,登火车

备注:''board''常用于正式的场合。

例:

A week later he boarded a ship bound for New York. (一周后他搭船前往纽约。)

Before boarding the plane, Jenny tried once more to call home. (上飞机前,珍妮又往家里打了个电话。)

 

6. on board/aboard: if you get on board or aboard a ship or plane, you get onto it 上船/上飞机

例:

It was time to get on board the ship. (可以登船了。)

A group of men, some in military uniform, climbed aboard the plane. (一群身着军装的人爬上飞机。)

The ship's crew saluted the President as he came aboard. (总统登上船头,船员们向他敬礼。)

 

7. embark: to get on a ship - use this especially when a large number of people do this (很多人)上船

备注:''embark''常用于正式的场合。

例:

A large group had assembled at the pier, waiting to embark. (很多人等在码头,准备上船。)

embark for

Their training completed, the regiment embarked for the war zone. (该团士兵训练结束,准备登船开赴前线。)

 

8. mount: to climb onto a horse (骑马时)上马

例:

Can you help Shelly mount? (你能帮雪莉上马吗?)

He mounted the pony and rode off. (他骑上马,扬尘而去。)
