英语中怎么表达“电器、车子等坏了”？我们来看看。

1. is not working/doesn't work : if a machine or piece of equipment is not working or doesn't work , it does not do the job it is supposed to do

例：

The phone's not working. （电话坏了。）

Our car isn't working at the moment, so I've been taking the bus. （我们车坏了，所以我坐公车来的。）

The elevator doesn't seem to be working - let's take the stairs. （电梯好像坏了，我们走楼梯吧。）

The headlights don't work and the brakes need fixing. （车头灯坏了，刹车也要修了。）

This camera doesn't work - I'll have to take it back to the store. （相机坏了，我得拿回店里去修。）

2. there's something wrong with : if there is something wrong with a machine, car etc., it does not work properly, but you do not know exactly why

例：

There's something wrong with my car: I think it might be the battery. （我的车有点毛病，我想可能是电池坏了。）

There was something wrong with the photocopier, so we called in the service company. （扫描仪有点问题，所以我们找了专门的服务公司来修理。）

If the VCR has something wrong with it, take it back to the store. （如果 VCR 有问题，就拿回店里来修。）

3. broken : not working - use this especially about a small machine or a small piece of equipment

例：

"What's the time?" "I don't know. My watch is broken." （ - 几点了？   - 不知道，我手表坏了。）

I think the doorbell must be broken - I didn't hear anything. （我想门铃肯定坏了，我没听到响。）

4. be out of order : if a machine, especially one used by the public, is out of order it is not working for a temporary period

例：

Every phone I tried was out of order. （我把这些电话都试过一遍，都是坏的。）

The toilets are almost always out of order. （厕所经常不能用。）

5. be out of action : if a vehicle or machine is out of action , it cannot be used at the moment because it is broken

备注： ''be out of action'' 常用于英式英语中。

例：

Three of our tanks are out of action. （我们的坦克坏了三辆。）

These planes may be out of action for a week, just for regular maintenance. （就为了进行日常维护，这几架飞机可能要停飞一周。）

Our washing machine's out of action at the moment, so we use the laundry down the road. （我们家的洗衣机正好坏了，所以我们要去街上的洗衣店洗衣服。）

6. be down : if a computer system is down , it is not working

例：

The computer system was down all afternoon so we went home. （电脑系统崩溃了，整个下午都没修好，所以我们就下班回家了。）

go down (=stop working)

The network went down at 11:00 and we lost the whole morning's work. （ 11 点时网络坏了，我们整个上午做的东西没保存，都丢了。）

7. bust : broken or badly damaged

备注： ''bust'' 常用于英式英语中，美式英语中常用 ''busted'' 。

例：

Our television's bust, and so is the radio. （我们家电视坏了，收音机也坏了。）

There's no point in trying to mend it, it's completely bust. （这修也白修，已经完全坏了。）

You can't record anything - the VCR's busted. （录像机完全坏了，什么都录不了了。）
