1. arrange: to make preparations for a meeting, party, journey etc., for example by choosing a suitable time and place and telling people about it

例:

Ann's arranging a surprise party for Russell's birthday. (安正为罗素准备一个惊喜生日派对。)

We're going on Friday—it's all arranged. (我们周五去,事先都定好了的。)

arrange to do something

They arranged to meet the following day. (他们约好了第二天见面。)

arrange for somebody to do something

He arranged for Andy to leave on the next flight home. (他给安迪定了下一班的飞机飞回家。)

it is arranged that

It was arranged that our visitors should stay at a nearby hotel. (已经安排好我们的客人住在附近的一家酒店。)

 

2. organize: to make preparations for an event, especially a big public event that needs a lot of preparation and planning

例:

I've been asked to organize this year's Summer Carnival. (大家任命我来组织今年的夏季狂欢节。)

an exhibition organized by the local camera club(由当地的摄影俱乐部组织的展览)

 

3. fix/fix up: to arrange something, especially for someone else, in order to help them or because they cannot arrange it for themselves

备注:''fix/fix up''常用于英式英语中。

例:

fix something/fix up something

Don't worry, Jane has already fixed everything. (简已经把所有事情都安排好了,别担心。)

We have done our best to fix up a meeting but they haven't shown any interest. (我们已经尽力筹划一次会议,但他们都没兴趣。)

fix something/it/them up

We need to get all the sales staff together for a conference—could I leave it to you to fix it up, Jane? (我们得召集所有销售人员一起来开个会,简,你能去安排一下会议事宜吗?)

fix it for somebody to do something

She can fix it for you to see the show free if you want. (如果你想免费看表演,她可以给你安排。)

 

4. set a time/date/place: to arrange for something to happen on a particular date etc.

备注:英式英语中常作''fix a date/time/place''

例:

I'll have my secretary set a date and we'll meet for lunch. (我让秘书去安排个日期,到时我们一起吃个午饭。)

We need to meet with Mr. White this afternoon but I'm having trouble fixing a time. (我们今天下午得跟怀特先生见个面,但是我时间错不开。)

 

5. pencil in: to arrange for something to happen on a particular date or time knowing that the arrangements may have to be changed later

备注:''pencil in''常用于英式英语中。

例:

pencil in somebody/something

Let's pencil in the 19th for now, and you get in touch later if you can't make it. (我们先暂定19号,你要是来不了,再通知我们。)

pencil somebody/something in for

Dates for the concerts are penciled in for late next year. (演唱会的日期暂定明年下半年。)

You can pencil him in for the 8th but I'm afraid I might be out of town that day. (你跟他先定在8号,但我那天可能要出城。)

 

6. make the arrangements/take care of the arrangements: to arrange all the details of an event after you have decided what you are going to do

例:

Uncle Bill has made all the funeral arrangements. (比尔叔叔已经把葬礼的事都安排好了。)

make the arrangements/take care of the arrangements for

Kate and Paul went up to London to make the arrangements for the wedding. (凯特和保罗去伦敦安排婚礼的事了。)

The marketing people will take care of all the arrangements for the presentation. (市场部同事会安排发布会事宜。)

make arrangements to do something

I made arrangements to see Alec while he was in town. (趁艾力克在城里,我安排好了去看他。)
