抱怨、发牢骚:

1. moan: to keep complaining in an annoying way - use this about someone who complains all the time, even about things that are not important 长时间一直抱怨无关紧要的事

例:

I'm fed up with hearing you moaning the whole time! (听你一直抱怨,我受够了!)

Why do people always moan about the weather? (人们为什么总爱抱怨天气?)

Some of the customers are moaning about the poor service. (有些顾客抱怨服务很差。)

 

2. grumble: to keep complaining in a bad-tempered way, especially when you think you have been treated unfairly 由于遭受不公的对待而愤怒地抱怨

例:

The old man turned away, grumbling as he went. (那个老人转过身,边走边抱怨。)

grumble about

She was grumbling about having to work so late. (要工作到这么迟,她一直抱怨。)

The people standing beside me were grumbling about not being able to find a place to park. (站我身边的那些人一直在抱怨找不到停车位。)

 

3. make a fuss: to complain angrily and noisily about something, so that everyone hears you or notices you 大声发脾气抱怨某事,以便让所有人都听到你的抱怨、注意到你

备注:或者写作''kick up a fuss''

例:

I don't want to make a fuss, but the soup is cold. (我不想发牢骚,可我要说,这汤是凉的。)

I don't understand why you're making such a fuss. It's not that important. (我不明白你为什么要这样发牢骚,这又不是什么大事。)

make a fuss about

The couple sitting next to us made a big fuss about their bill. (坐我们隔壁桌的那对夫妇大抱怨他们家的账单。)

Won't he kick up a fuss when he discovers it? (他发现后,难道不会发牢骚?)

 

4. go on about: to keep complaining about something or someone's behavior in an annoying way 以恼人的方式一直埋怨某事或某人的行为

备注:''go on about''常用于英式英语中的非正式场合。

例:

Our neighbors are always going on about the noise we make. (邻居一直抱怨我们弄出那么大声响。)

go on and on about (=for a long time)

Look, I'm sorry I kept you waiting, but there's no need to go on and on about it. (虽然让你等是我不对,可是你也没必要一直抱怨。)

 

5. nag: to keep complaining to someone, especially in order to make them do something that they do not want to do 持续向某人抱怨,以使TA做些TA本并不想做的事情

例:

I wish you'd stop nagging me. (你别再对我唠唠叨叨了。)

nag about

My mom's always nagging me about my room. (我妈妈一直唠叨说我的房间太乱了。)

nag to do something

My parents are always nagging me to clean my room. (我爸妈一直唠叨要我整理房间。)

 

6. whinge: to keep complaining in an annoying way - use this when someone is complaining about something that is not important or is something they could change if they really wanted to 以恼人的方式一直抱怨某个其实他们真想改就可以改变状况的事情

备注:''whinge''常用于英式英语中的非正式场合。

例:

Nick was a pain in the neck. He did nothing but whinge the whole trip. (尼克是个令人讨厌的家伙,他一路上光抱怨,什么也不做。)

He's always whinging about being underpaid. (他一直抱怨工资太低。)

 

7. whine: to keep complaining about something unimportant, especially in a sad, annoying voice 以忧伤或让人不快的声音抱怨无关紧要的事

例:

For heaven's sake stop whining. Nobody has touched your precious records. (天呐别抱怨了。没人碰你的宝贝磁带。)

The workers were whining that the office was too cold. (员工都抱怨说,办公室太冷了。)

whine about

He's always whining about how much everything costs. (他一直抱怨物价高。)

 

爱抱怨的人、爱发牢骚的人:

1. grouch: someone who is always complaining 总是抱怨的人

例:

Her dad's a terrible grouch. (她爸爸非常爱发牢骚。)

You're such a grouch in the morning. (你今天早上牢骚很多。)

 

2. misery/misery guts: someone who is always complaining, is never happy, and does not like other people to enjoy themselves 自己老是抱怨、永远不高兴,也不希望其他人高兴的人

备注:''misery/misery guts''常用于英式英语中的非正式场合。''misery guts''虽然有''-s'',但是是单数形式。

例:

Emma is a real misery guts. (艾玛很爱抱怨。)

Stop being such a misery. It's not the end of the world. (别抱怨了,又不是世界末日。)

 

3. whinger: someone who keeps complaining in an annoying way - use this when someone is complaining about something that is not important or is something they could change if they wanted to 自己不去改变现状而只会一味发牢骚的人

备注:''whinger''常用于英式英语中的非正式场合。

例:

This place is full of whingers. It's just pathetic. (这家里都是爱发牢骚的人,太可悲了。)
