英文怎么形容一个地方“脏乱差”?

1. messy/untidy: if a place is messy or untidy , things have been left carelessly in different parts of it instead of being neatly arranged

备注:美式英语中或者英式英语口语中都更常用''messy''

例:

His room is always so messy. (他房间总是这么脏。)

She felt uncomfortable in such a messy house. (她在这么脏的房子里感到浑身不自在。)

He only cleans up his room when it gets really messy. (只有卧室很脏时,他才会收拾一下。)

Sorry the place is so messy, I haven't had time to clear up. (抱歉,家里这么脏,我没空收拾。)

My desk isn't always this messy - I've been working on a major project. (我办公桌平时没有这么乱的,我正在做一个大项目,所以乱了点。)

Jane found the professor in a small, untidy office. (简在一个又小又乱的办公室里找到了教授。)

These drawers are so untidy - I can never find what I'm looking for. (抽屉这么乱,我要找什么都找不到。)

 

2. be a mess: if a place is a mess or is in a mess , it is very untidy and dirty

备注:''be a mess''常用于非正式的场合,英式英语中常用''be in a mess''

例:

Please sit down. Sorry everything's such a mess. (请坐吧。家里很乱,不好意思啊。)

Sorry - the place is a bit of a mess. (抱歉,家里有点乱。)

My basement is a complete mess and has been for years. (我家地下室乱成一团,而且多年来一直这么乱。)

The burglars left the house in an awful mess. (家里进贼了,一片狼藉。)

The whole house is in a mess, but I didn't have time to clean it up. (家里到处都很乱,我没空收拾。)

补充:

What a mess!(太乱了!)

You can make cookies if you promise not to make a mess in the kitchen. (你要是答应保持厨房卫生,我就让你做饼干。)

clear/clean up the mess

Whoever is responsible for this mess can clear it up immediately! (谁把这儿弄乱的,马上打扫干净!)

 

3. cluttered: untidy because there are too many things in a small space

例:

He works in a cluttered studio that looks like a mechanic's garage. (他的工作室看起来就像汽修工的车库一样,乱成一团。)

The trailer was cluttered and cramped, with barely enough room to turn around. (这辆房车已经很挤很乱了,几乎连转身的余地都没有了。)

 

4. dump: a place that is untidy and dirty

备注:''dump''常用于非正式的场合。

例:

The Ewells' place is a real dump. (厄尔家真是脏乱差。)

Why don't you do something about your room - it's a dump. (你干嘛不整理一下房间,真的很乱,像垃圾堆似的。)

Why are you living in a dump like this? (你为什么住在这么脏乱差的地方?)

'What a dump,' she added as they entered the village. (跟着大家进村时,她说:“真脏啊这里。”)

 

5. pigsty: an untidy and very dirty place

备注:''pigsty''常用于非正式的场合,美式英语中常用''pit''''pigpen''''pigsty''''pigpen''的原意是“猪窝”。

例:

This place is a pigsty! Clean it up. (这里简直是猪圈!打扫一下!)

The house was a pigsty, as usual. (这房子一直这么脏。)

I don't know how you can stand living in a pigsty like this. (我不明白,要你住在这种脏污的地方你怎么受得了!)

My room's a total pit, but I'm too lazy to clean it. (我房间太脏了,但我懒得收拾。)

 

6. tip: a very untidy place

备注:''tip''常用于英式英语中的非正式场合。

例:

Your room's an absolute tip! (你的房间真太脏了!)

It was a very nice house until they moved in and turned it into a tip. (他们搬进来之前这房子很干净漂亮,他们搬来后就把它弄得很脏了。)
