英文里的“重要”，还能怎么形容，我们来看看。

1. momentous :

momentous event/decision/occasion etc. : something that is very important because it has a very great effect or influence on future events

例：

At this point William made a momentous decision—he resigned from his job and joined the army. （那时候威廉姆斯做了一个重大的决定：他决定辞职去参军。）

The revolution taking place in Eastern Europe must be counted as one of the most momentous events of this century. （东欧革命可以算是本世纪最重大的事件之一。）

2. critical : a time or situation that is critical is extremely important and possibly dangerous because your future will depend on what happens or is decided at that time

例：

These talks are critical to the future of the peace process. （这些谈话对于和平进程至关重要。）

Foreign trade is of critical importance to the economy. （外贸对于经济至关重要。）

The next few months could be critical for the whole mining industry. （接下来的几个月对于整个采矿业都非常重要。）

It is absolutely critical for us to know the truth. （我们要知道真相，这点至关重要。）

3. landmark : an important time or event in someone's life, in history, in the development of knowledge etc., especially one that is the beginning of great improvements

例：

Getting my first part in a movie was a major landmark in my life. （我的第一个电影角色对我的演艺生涯至关重要。）

看看“不重要”，英文里怎么形容：

1. not important/unimportant : not likely to cause problems or to have an important effect on something

例：

"I forgot to add the olive oil." "Don't worry - it's not important." （ - 我忘了加橄榄油了。 - 没事，加不加都无所谓。）

I don't want to waste time arguing over unimportant details. （我不想浪费时间来讨论无关紧要的细节。）

Critics have dismissed his work as unimportant. （评论家说他的作品毫无价值。）

2. minor : a minor problem, accident, disagreement etc is small and does not have a serious effect or result

例：

Two car windows were broken and minor damage was done to some shops. （两辆车的车窗被砸了，一些店有些小损失。）

She suffered some minor injuries in the accident. （这次事故中，她受了点轻伤。）

We've had a few minor problems with the new computer system. （电脑新系统有些小问题。）

3. insignificant/not significant : not important enough to worry about, especially because there are other problems that are much more serious

例：

The level of radiation was considered 'insignificant' and not a danger to health. （辐射很小，对健康无害。）

There is a slight difference in the way men and women are affected by the drug, but this is not really significant. （男性和女性对药物的反应有点不同，这点不太重要。）

After a week of negotiations, the differences between the two sides are now relatively insignificant. （经过一周谈判，双方分歧已经变小了。）

4. petty : something such as a problem, argument, or worry that is petty is so unimportant that it seems silly or selfish for someone to talk or worry about

例：

We started having arguments over petty little things. （我们开始为鸡毛蒜皮的事情吵架。）

The meeting spent too much time on petty issues, and didn't address the real problem. （会议上花了太多时间讨论鸡毛蒜皮的小事，没解决什么重要议题。）
