1. once : 曾经一度

例：

a sports car once owned by Paul McCartney （一度属于保罗·麦卡特尼的跑车）

They had met once on holiday, so they knew each other slightly. （他们曾在度假时见过一次面，算是相识。）

She once called me a liar and I've never forgiven her. （她曾经称我为“骗子”，我为此一直没原谅她。）

I remember once it snowed on my birthday, and I was so excited. （我记得有一次我过生日时下雪了，把我激动的不行。）

Apparently he once worked for the FBI. （明摆着他曾经在 FBI 干过。）

Once, when I was a little boy, I found a gold watch on the beach. （我小时候曾经在沙滩上捡到过一块金表。）

2. one time : once 有一次

备注： "one time" 常用于口语中。

例：

I remember coming home from school one time and finding we'd been burgled. （我记得，有一次放学回家，发现家里进小偷了。）

One time we went out fishing on the lake at night. （有一次，我们晚上跑去湖边钓鱼。）

She came round to tea one time, and we did our homework together. （有一次她来我家喝茶，然后我们一起做作业。）

3. on one occasion : use this to give an example of when something you are talking about happened, especially when it is a particularly interesting or extreme example 举一个过去的例子

例：

On one occasion, she rang his home and a strange woman answered. （有一次，她打电话到他家，是一个陌生女人接的电话。）

He drinks far too much. On one occasion I saw him drink a whole bottle of vodka. （他喝得太凶了，有一次我看见他喝了一整瓶伏特加。）

On one occasion I made the mistake of arriving at work late and my boss has never let me forget it. （有一次，我上班迟到，老板狠狠地批评了我，让我终身难忘。）

4. at one stage : at one time during a period of time, process, or event in the past 过去的某一个时间点

例：

I dieted for many years, and at one stage I weighed only 71 kg. （我多年来一直节食，一度瘦到只有 71 公斤。）

It was a terrible winter. At one stage all the roads to the village were blocked by snow. （那个冬天奇冷无比，有一回通往村庄的路都被大雪封住了。）

5. at one point : at one time during an activity or period of time in the past 在过去某个活动中

例：

At one point in the interview, he seemed close to tears. （面试中，他曾经差点落泪了。）

"You play the piano very well," I remember Mrs White remarking at one point. （“你钢琴弹得很好。”我记得怀特太太曾这样评价我的琴艺。）

I had several narrow escapes during the war, at one point just missing death when my plane was shot down. （战争中我有几次死里逃生的经历，有一次我开的飞机被打下来，我差点就死了。）

6. one day : on a day in the past - use this especially when the exact day does not matter and you are telling the story of what happened 有一天

例：

I was sitting eating my breakfast one day when the telephone rang. （有一天早上，我正在坐着吃早饭，电话突然响了。）

Then, one day he went away and never came back. （后来有一天，他走了，以后就再也没回来过。）

One day, when we had nothing else to do, we went for a swim in the river. （有一天，我们没事干，就去河里游泳。）
