1. trick: a clever plan designed to make someone believe something that you want them to believe, or do something that you want them to do 比较高明的骗局

2. trap: a clever plan designed to harm someone, for example by making them go somewhere where they will be caught or attacked, or making them say something they will be punished for 陷阱，下套

Sensing the lawyer's trap, he refused to answer. （他感觉到律师在给他下套，所以拒绝回答问题。）

3. deception: something that is said or done with the deliberate intention of deceiving people 故意欺骗

5. hoax: a false warning about something dangerous, given especially to someone in an official position, for example the police谎报险情

6. con game/con: a trick to get someone's money or make someone do something 骗钱或骗人做事的骗局

8. scam: a clever and dishonest plan to get money 以高明的不实手段骗钱，诓骗

9. diversion: a trick that is intended to take someone's attention away from what someone else is trying to do 分散某人的注意力以做坏事

例：

Some of the prisoners started a fight as a diversion to give the others time to escape. （一些囚犯放火引开警方注意力，让其他囚犯可以借机逃跑。）

10. decoy: a person or thing that is used to trick someone by taking their attention away from an illegal or criminal act 假目标，引诱

例：

You act as a decoy and we'll sneak out the back. （你去引开他们，我们从后面溜出去。）

The burglars started the fire as a decoy so that they could escape from police. （小偷放火引开警察，这样他们才能逃脱。）
